Minor League Cricket · 2026
Four matches in five days. Four wins. The Los Angeles Lashings did not lose a game in their first season at the Los Angeles Cricket Ground, and the margins widened as the week went on — seven wickets, then six, then forty-eight runs, then a hundred and two. On Tuesday they fly to Texas for the Super League. Here is how each of the four was won.
Regular Season Record: 4 Wins, 0 Losses
8 Points | NRR +2.1786
Los Angeles swept Group A with a 4-0 record and a +2.1786 Net Run Rate, outscoring opponents 598 to 443.
Batting Core: Fawad Alam grounded the order with 119 runs (Avg 29.75, SR 108.18). Jack O’Rourke matched his output with 118 runs (Avg 39.33, SR 126.88), while Muhammad Zaid scored 110 runs (Avg 36.67, SR 122.22, 6 6s). Sahib Abichandani added 57 runs at a strike rate of 154.05.

San Diego Surf Riders 165/7 (20 overs)
Los Angeles Lashings 168/3 (18.2 overs)
Player of the matchMuhammad Zaid — 57 off 32, six fours and four sixes
The Lashings won the toss and put San Diego in. It worked slowly rather than immediately: the Surf Riders kept finding partnerships, with Imran Mohammadi top-scoring on 37 and Harpreet Singh making 31, and they found two big overs along the way — seventeen from the fifth, eighteen from the eighteenth — to close on 165 for 7. Raj Vyas took three for 41, with Elmore Hutchinson and Fawad Alam one apiece. The best figures of the night went unrewarded: Gayan Fernando’s four overs cost eleven runs and brought him nothing.
Then Muhammad Zaid took the chase apart. Fifty-seven from thirty-two balls, six fours and four sixes, before he retired hurt and left the job half done. Jack O’Rourke finished it. His unbeaten 55 included a twenty-one-run sixteenth over that effectively ended the contest, and Sahib Abichandani was there at the other end on 33 not out. The target went down with ten balls to spare.

Seattle Thunderbolts 143/9 (20 overs)
Los Angeles Lashings 145/4 (19.1 overs)
Player of the matchJack O’Rourke — 46 off 28, three fours and three sixes
The first Minor League Cricket match ever played in Encino, and the only one of the four that went into the final over.
The Lashings bowled first again. Seattle lost wickets steadily through the powerplay and never quite got away: Shashwat Kohli held the innings together with a patient 50 from 47, Arshdeep Singh added a late 22 from 14, and 143 for 9 was as far as they got. Gayan Fernando took three. The spell of the day, though, belonged to Elmore Hutchinson — four overs, one of them a maiden, nine runs conceded, two wickets.
Chasing 144, the Lashings lost Aryan Chowdhury in the second over with six on the board, then rebuilt so carefully that they spent a long stretch behind the required rate. Fawad Alam steadied it with 49 from 46. O’Rourke broke it open with 46 from 28, three fours and three sixes. Both fell before the end, which is how a comfortable-looking chase ended up going to the twentieth over — the winning runs came off its first ball, with five to spare.

Los Angeles Lashings 122/8 (20 overs)
Seattle Thunderbolts 74/10 (16.1 overs)
Player of the matchFawad Alam — top scored with 25-25
The one that looked lost at the innings break. The Lashings batted first this time and found nothing easy: Shashwat Kohli, who had made the fifty the day before, returned four for 23 from his four overs, and Karthik Gattepalli took two for 19. Fawad Alam top-scored with 25 from 25. Aryan Chowdhury made 20, Achilles Browne 17 from 14, and the hundred did not arrive until the seventeenth over. The Lashings finished on 122 for 8 — a total nobody in the ground would have called defendable.
It was defended inside seventeen overs. Seattle lost wickets in clusters and never built a stand worth the name. Gayan Fernando conceded nine runs in three overs and took two; Abhimanyu Rajp took two for 11. Gattepalli offered the only resistance with 32 from 27, and Khyber Wali’s run-out in the ninth over — after twenty-five balls for 13 — took the last of it away. Seattle were all out for 74.

Los Angeles Lashings 163/5 (20 overs)
San Diego Surf Riders 61/10 (11.1 overs)
Player of the matchGayan Fernando — five wickets for 27
San Diego won the toss and asked the Lashings to bat. It went wrong quickly enough. Achilles Browne made 43 from 42 with three sixes, Fawad Alam hit 37 from 25 with five fours, and the pair put on 75 together to give the innings its shape. Akeem Dodson then finished it off with 27 not out from 14 and AB Aziz Azizi 14 not out from 6 — eighteen came off the sixteenth over and sixteen off the seventeenth — and the Lashings closed on 163 for 5. Vijaya Ram Nandula was the Surf Riders’ best with two for 43.
What followed was the bowling performance of the season. Gayan Fernando ran through the top and middle order to finish with five for 27. Elmore Hutchinson took two in a single over, one of them a double-wicket maiden. San Diego never reached a partnership of substance — Imran Mohammadi’s 14 from 8 was their highest score — and were all out for 61 in 11.1 overs. One hundred and two runs, with nearly nine overs unused, and the regular season finished without a defeat.
Two of those were played on a natural-turf square that did not exist in this park eighteen months ago, in front of people sitting on the grass with no gate and no ticket. That was the point of building it.
What happens now
The Super League is the knockout stage of Minor League Cricket, and it is played in one place: the Prairie View Cricket Complex, north-west of Houston. The Lashings have three group matches in three days against Chicago, New Jersey and Morrisville, and if they come through, a Championship Final on the Sunday.
Everything is on Central time, which is the thing worth remembering if you are watching from here. A 2:00 PM start in Texas is noon in Los Angeles. The Thursday game starts at 8:00 AM our time — set an alarm.

The first three are at the Prairie View Cricket Complex. The Championship Final is at Kingsmen Stadium. Both finalists are still to be decided — the Lashings have to get there first.
