For the first time, Minor League Cricket is being played in Encino. The Los Angeles Lashings open their 2026 season on Thursday, September 24, and over five days they will play four matches — two of them at home, on a natural-turf pitch that did not exist in this park a year ago. Every match is free to attend.
New field. New heroes. New era. The pitch is new, much of the squad is new to the city, and this is the first season the league comes to Encino.
Four matches in five days
The season is short and sharp. The Lashings open away at Canyonside in San Diego on Thursday, come home for a double-header weekend against the Seattle Thunderbolts, then drive back down to San Diego on the Monday to close it out. Four games, one road trip, no filler.
The home weekend
September 26 and 27 are the dates to circle. Saturday starts at 2:00 PM, Sunday at 1:00 PM, both at the Los Angeles Cricket Ground on Burbank Boulevard. There is no gate and no ticket — walk up, find a spot on the grass, stay as long as you like.
Come prepared the way you would for any afternoon in the Basin. Chairs or a picnic mat, because there are no bleachers. Sunscreen and water, because the marine layer burns off and the Valley does what the Valley does. A cooler, because a T20 runs about three hours. And if you can, bring someone who has never watched a cricket match — explaining it to a newcomer is half the pleasure of the afternoon.
If you know Woodley, you know how to get here
Generations of Los Angeles club cricketers have spent their weekends at Woodley. The new ground sits about a mile and a half away on the other side of the Basin — a five-minute drive, just north of the 101 on Burbank Boulevard. If you have ever made the trip to Woodley on a Saturday morning, you already know the roads.
