The SoCal Angle: San Diego In, Los Angeles Absent
The 2026 squad adds to the recent pattern of absence (2024, 2026) from a region long central to U.S. youth cricket development. While Southern California remains represented via San Diego, the moment invites reflection on youth pathways, particularly in Los Angeles. For the second time in four (4) USA U19 World Cup representations, the national U19 side will not feature a player from the Los Angeles region.
Historical LA Representation:
- 2006 U19 World Cup — USA’s debut featured strong Los Angeles representation: Abhimanyu Rajp, Ravi Timbawala, Mrunal Patel, Nisarg Patel, Mohammad Usman Rehman.
- 2010 U19 World Cup — Los Angeles representation continued through Hammad Shahid and Salman Ahmed.
- 2024 U19 World Cup — No Los Angeles representation
- 2026 U19 World Cup — No Los Angeles representation
