Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Lashings, a prominent Minor League Cricket team, have submitted a proposal to the Southern California Cricket Association (SCCA) for a partnership to develop two new cricket fields as part of the Sepulveda Basin Cricket Complex expansion. This initiative aligns with the vision for enhancing cricket infrastructure in Los Angeles and addressing the growing demand for facilities to support local and professional cricket.
The project is included in the Sepulveda Basin Vision Plan, which is currently under review by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department. These fields, once ready for development, will require significant collaboration and investment from all stakeholders, including financial and operational input from city and federal agencies.
A Collaborative Vision
In their proposal, the Lashings have outlined a shared responsibility model where operational privileges and usage rights for the new fields will be divided among stakeholders based on their financial contributions to the project. This approach ensures fairness while fostering strong partnerships for the future of cricket in Los Angeles.
“We see this as a unique opportunity to create professional cricket facilities in the heart of Los Angeles,” said Abhimanyu Rajp, co-owner of the Los Angeles Lashings. “We’re committed to working alongside the SCCA and other stakeholders to bring this vision to life for players and fans alike.”
Deepak Gosain, co-owner of the Lashings, added, “The Lashings are ready to support this ambitious project. We’re excited to collaborate with the SCCA to ensure that Los Angeles remains a leading hub for cricket in the U.S.”
Awaiting Further Dialogue
The Los Angeles Lashings will await an update from the SCCA on their proposal and look forward to advancing discussions to determine the next steps. This proposal marks the beginning of a critical dialogue aimed at addressing the region’s infrastructure needs and expanding cricket’s presence in Southern California.
“We are confident that this propsoed partnership will provide a pathway to success, and we’re ready to engage in meaningful discussions to move this project forward,” Rajp noted.
The Road Ahead
As deliberations continue with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Los Angeles, the Lashings and SCCA will remain aligned in their commitment to advocating for the necessary funding and support to realize this transformative project.
