Los Angeles Cricket Submits Proposals for Cricket Field Conversions in Los Angeles Parks and Rec

Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Cricket (LAC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the development and promotion of cricket in the region, has officially submitted proposals to the City of Los Angeles and the Parks and Recreation Department for the conversion of fields into cricket-ready facilities in the Valley region.

As part of its mission to expand cricket infrastructure in Los Angeles, LAC is actively exploring fields with multi-purpose use or the potential to develop dedicated cricketing turf within Los Angeles County. These efforts align with the organization’s commitment to providing quality facilities for youth, amateur, and professional players, ensuring the sport’s growth and sustainability in the region.

A Vision for Cricket Growth in Los Angeles

The submitted proposals reflect LAC’s vision to transform underutilized or multi-purpose fields into cricket-friendly environments. The organization emphasizes that accessible, high-quality facilities are critical to fostering community engagement and supporting the needs of Los Angeles’ diverse and growing cricket community.

“Cricket is rapidly gaining traction across the United States, and Los Angeles is poised to become a hub for the sport as we aim towards the 2028 bid for reigniting the Olympic fire with Cricket as an official sport,” said Abhimanyu Rajp of Los Angeles Cricket. “By collaborating with the City and Parks and Recreation, we aim to be able to develop quality infrastructure and provide a platform where players of all levels can develop their skills and enjoy the game at the highest levels.”

Benefits of the Proposed Conversions

  • Enhanced Access: Local players will have more opportunities to train and compete without needing to travel long distances.
  • Youth Development: Improved facilities will support the growth of LAC’s youth academies and leagues, fostering the next generation of cricket talent.
  • Multi-Use Opportunities: Proposed fields will maintain the flexibility for other recreational activities while prioritizing cricket-specific use.
  • Community Engagement: Upgraded facilities will serve as venues for hosting events, tournaments, and workshops, strengthening Los Angeles’ cricket culture.

Los Angeles Cricket’s efforts to secure dedicated cricketing turf represent a significant step toward professionalizing the sport locally. The organization is committed to working closely with city officials and community stakeholders to bring these plans to fruition.

Next Steps

LAC will continue to explore field options in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles and Parks and Recreation. Updates on the proposals and progress will be shared as the organization moves forward with this vital initiative.
